Euphorbia schoenlandii is native to South Africa, specifically the Western Cape Province. It thrives in arid regions marked by cool, rainy winters with occasional fog, contrasted by hot, dry summer droughts. This Euphorbia can be found growing in the open in sandveld areas growing among other xerophilic shrubs and aloes. Inflorescences are small only getting up to 8 mm in diameter, cyathia produce 4 or 5 green glands around the stem apex.
