Anson Cyr + Amanda Wong
Hell Is Other Horses
February 14 – April 14, 2026 | Public Land Gallery, Sacramento
Through recurring imagery such as teardrops, snakes, horses, butterflies, and melting forms, the artists grapple with psychological states of anxiety and awe, using symbolism as a language for what resists direct articulation. In doing so, the work places this warped vision of nature within the broader reality of a civilization that has generated profound harm. This exhibition moves between sincerity and distortion, beauty and collapse. It asks what it means to romanticize the natural world while participating in its unraveling.

Amanda Wong
Amanda Wong died tragically at the age of thirty five. But not before losing her hand to the bite of a Tasmanian tiger, outswimming a Malaysian tidal wave, and surviving the trampling of a rabid bison herd. She drowned during an ill-fated expedition when her ship fell victim to a melting glacier.
She died with no money, reason or qualifications.
